Location and Specialty

Located in Auchenflower, the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane proudly claims to be a not-for-profit private hospital operated by the UnitingCare Health group, an organisation dedicated to providing quality healthcare on behalf of the Uniting Church.

The hospital offers a wide array of highly specialised medical and surgical services in cardiology, neurosurgery, urology, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, maternity, and women’s health. However, the Wesley Hospital is probably most well-known for its Kim Walters Choices program (also called Choices Cancer Support Centre), a unique free program that offers support to anyone diagnosed with breast cancer.

The program is a tribute to Brisbane Broncos’ Kevin Walters’ wife Kim who died at the young age of 30 because of breast cancer. The Choices program aims to support both men and women (and their respective families) who are afflicted with the ailment, regardless of where they are receiving the treatment.

Visitor Parking Options

Unlike other public hospitals of the same size, the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane has a spacious multi-storey, 24-hour carpark. It has about 1,000 parking spaces for visitors. The car park uses a license-recognition software, which eliminates paper tickets. Located within the private hospital grounds, its parking fees are a bit on the exorbitant side, ranging from $5 to $25, depending on your length of stay. The carpark also offers a single-day pass for those needing to come and go multiple times, priced at $28, and a 5-day pass at $85.

The carpark only allows vehicles that are within the two-meter height limit. So, if you are driving a truck or a tall SUV, it might be better to look for parking elsewhere.

Long-Term Stay Parking Options

As the carpark operates with a license-recognising technology, there is no option for long-term or concession parking. Visiting medical practitioners, doctors, and staff are encouraged to log on the Wesley Hospital’s website and have their license plates registered to enjoy the staff rate. However, the same is not being offered to patients and their respective carers.
